We thought a little information about Atlanta would be helpful for the out-of-town folks. Jamie and I are both quite fond of our adopted hometown - there is a lot to do here, especially for foodies and history buffs. If you scroll down, you can find information about our "wedding map" on weddingmapper.com. Here are a few other tidbits:
Getting around: A car is the easiest way to get around Atlanta. This is a driving town, which means that parking is ample in most places. If you prefer to use public transportation (MARTA) taking it from the hotel to most points of interest will involve a bus (or two) and the train. There is also a shuttle from the airport to the hotel ($25 one-way, $45 round-trip).
Where to stay: The Emory Conference Center Hotel, where the wedding will be, has a special rate for our guests. We included information about how to reserve rooms there with the invitations. There are some other hotels in the area - the Hampton Inn and the Doubletree. You could also stay in Midtown (where we live) - there is Hotel Midtown, a Four Seasons, and Regency Suites.
For the kids: Atlanta is well-known for its Aquarium and the Center for Pupperty Arts. There is also a children's museum downtown. Jamie and I are big fans of the Fernbank Museum - there is an enormous dinosaur skeleton in the foyer and an IMAX theater. Finally, the Botanical Gardens have a wonderful children's area.
You may want to consider purchasing a city pass if you're planning on hitting a lot of attractions.
